Samsung is pushing its Bixby service to a wide array of Galaxy users, including the recently launched Galaxy S10 models. The service can easily be accessed via a single push of a physical key allocated to it. That is known as the Bixby button and, until now, Galaxy users couldn’t reallocate it to other apps. However, now we can remap Bixby button on Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10E.

Bixby is Samsung’s assistant, and while some users find it useful, some others would like to use something else instead of it. That’s why many Samsung Galaxy S10 owners were happy to find out that the South Korean tech giant finally allows users to remap the Bixby button.

In this short tutorial, we’ll show you how to remap the Bixby button on Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10E. However, if you want to reallocate the key to Google Assistant, you’ll be disappointed to find out that’s impossible.

Note that remapping the Bixby key to another application on your device won’t disable the service. If you want to disable Bixby, read on because we’ll show you how to do that, too, or check out our How To Disable Bixby on Your Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10E tutorial.

How To Remap Bixby Button On Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10E

  1. Go to Settings -> Advanced Features
  2. Tap on Bixby Key and choose the “Double press to open Bixby” option
  3. Turn on the “Use single press”
  4. Inside the “Use single press” section, go to “Open app”
  5. Next, touch the Settings button in that screen and select an application

After you performed all these steps, you can now open the app you’ve chosen at the step above by simply pressing the Bixby button once. If you push it twice, Samsung’s Bixby assistant will pop up.

Note that you won’t be able to remap the Bixby button to Google Assistant. Probably, Samsung invested a lot of money in Bixby, and the South Korean tech giant is not willing to allow users to link the Bixby button to a competitor virtual assistant.

Also, you should keep in mind that the method present above is only useful to remap Bixby button on Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10E. Accordingly, it won’t disable Bixby so that it won’t help you avoid accidental Bixby button presses.

Here’s how to disable Bixby button on Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones

To prevent accidental presses of the Bixby button, you should follow the steps presented below. However, take note that you won’t actually disable Bixby service, but you’ll only make it harder to open.

First, you should go to your Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone’s home screen, tap and hold on an empty space, and once a menu appears, swipe right until you reach the final panel on the left, that is the Bixby Home. Now, you have to disable it.

Once that’s done, follow the next steps:

  • Go to Settings on your smartphone
  • Next, access the Advanced Features section
  • Tap on Bixby Key
  • Choose “Double press to open Bixby”

In conclusion, you can now remap Bixby button on Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10E to any other app in your smartphone, except for Google Assistant. However, reallocating the Bixby key to another application won’t disable the service. You can read our How To Disable Bixby on Your Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10E guide for more details.
