LineageOS started supporting devices with the Android Nougat based LineageOS 14.1 2 years ago. This has come to an end now, as Android Pie has been released and LineageOS team wants to support newer devices with the latest Android.
Recently LineageOS team has finished support for Android Nougat based LineageOS 14.1 to start support Android Pie based OFFICIAL LineageOS 16 ROM builds.

What else changed except dropping LineageOS 14.1:
Before this commit LineageOS 14.1 supported devices were set to build monthly and the LineageOS 15.1 supported devices were set as NIGHTLY builds.
With this update, LineageOS 15.1 OFFICIAL builds are set to weekly and the OFFICIAL LineageOS 16 builds are set as NIGHTLY builds.

How to Get Android Nougat or Oreo or Pie if your device is dropped from LineageOS 14.1:
Well, most likely the LineageOS 14.1 builds will disappear from the LineageOS Download page.
In that case, you can visit other Android Nougat based custom ROMs if your device is supported there or not!
